Yeah, yeah, I know... I just want to say something here: It's my friend Chrissy who started it all. I was in 6th grade, I had just moved to SLO from Berkeley and was having kind of a hard time. I was introduced to SM sitting on her bedroom floor that was covered with manga and anime video tapes. She sat there and played Super Mario (I've always been absolutely hopeless at video games) while I became converted. As it is, I'm still obsessed; and if you're a moonie who's moved to Italy, who doesn't speak Italian, you know how difficult it is to keep the faith up.

With that taken care of, here's me trying my best to cover the basic and sometimes confusing facts of Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon.

The story centers around a fourteen year old girl called Tsukino Usagi (Or Serena in the NA Version, but I'll use Japanese names for now) who discovers that she is indeed the sailor suited warrior for justice, Sailormoon. Later joined by the other Sailor Senshi (use the word scout, you lose a limb) which are divided into the Inner Senshi and the Outer Senshi. Mercury, Mars, Venus, and Jupiter are the inner senshi, who work closely with Sailormoon and lived with her in the Silver Millennium.

The Silver Millennium

During the Silver Millennium, Queen Serenity, mother of Princess Serenity, ruled the Moon Kingdom. Everything was nice and the solar system was peaceful.

Princess Serenity had four friends who were the princesses of their planets, just as Serenity was of the moon. They always stayed near her to help and protect her.

Serenity fell in love with Endymion, the prince of the Earth, and the 4 inner planet's princesses fell in love with his four main generals. But, of course, it didn't stay happy for that long, because the Negaverse attacked.

The 4 Generals were brainwashed and they battled against the ones they used to love. The Moon Kingdom was destroyed. Every one died, including The Moon Princess and her prince, who protected her until the end. Seeing this, there was no other choice for Queen Serenity, but to use her last power to release the Silver Crystal. Her life was the price for it. She did not regret of what she did, because she knew she was giving another chance for her daughter and her friends to live in another time and place. And they would fight this evil power if it tried once again to conquer the solar system.

From the once very powerful kingdom, there were only 2 royal cats who were left behind, with the quest to find the Moon Princess and her friends, and then to prepare them for the next battle. Artemis, the white cat, who lives with Minako (Sailor Venus), and Luna, the black cat, who belongs with Sailor Moon, Usagi.

Present Day Tokyo

They all used to be normal girls: Tsukino Usagi, Mizuno Amy, Hino Rei, Kino Makoto and Aino Minako. Until one day Luna appeared in Usagi's life and they were all transformed into the Sailor Senshi. Their task was to find the Silver Crystal and the Moon Princess before the evil power, which had once destroyed the Moon Kingdom found them.

During their fight, they were helped by Tuxedo Mask. It took a long time before they realized that Usagi was the Moon Princess and Tuxedo Mask was Prince Endymion, whose name was Chiba Mamoru in normal life. It was not revealed until Mamoru's death. At that time, they also discovered where The Silver Crystal was.

Then, of course they had a new quest. To destroy the evil power, but this time it would be very difficult because their enemy had a new person to lead the battle. It was Prince Endymion, who was brainwashed by Queen Beryl.

Then, there's a whole long complicated storyline which I don't completely understand, but is awful fun to watch or read.

Then there's....

Crystal Tokyo

This is the future, and Tokyo is ruled by Neo-Queen Serenity and Neo-King Endymion. Everything was all nice until the Darkmoon Family started attacking. Neo-Queen Serenity was trapped in a crystal and needed the Silver Crystal to save her life, for she was as alive as much as she was dead. But there's one biiiiiig problem... Nobody knows where the Crystal is, it just upped and disappeared one day. Great, right?

In order to save her mother's life, Neo-Princess Usagi (The one with pink hair) felt it was her responsibility to go back in time to the 20th Century to get the Crystal and ask Sailor Moon for help. But she wasn't alone in her time travels, some of the Darkmoon Family followed her. The Senshi always protected her, and promised to help her mother.

In order to do that, they all went to the future. When they all were in the
future, the neo-princess (Chibi Usa) was captured by the enemy, brainwashed and became the most powerful enemy of the Sailor Senshi, The Black Lady. She was sent back to the past, to conquer it so there would be no Crystal Tokyo in the future.
